人はよく「山と水」について考えるのではないでしょうか。禅語では「山之山、水之水」という言葉が思い浮かぶことでしょう。

私は日本とスイスの「山と水」考えるのですが、異なるものでありながら、同時につながっていると感じています。

「どこの海であろうと、水は同じ」と、修行中に、故・鵬雲斎大宗匠に言われたことがあります。私はこの言葉に深く心を打たれ、これからもこの言葉を胸に刻みながら、卓越を目指していく所存です。

この機会に、山や水の清々しさ、そして私たち自身の心の清々しさを感じていただければ幸いです。

People often reflect on ‘mountains and water’. In Zen, the phrase ‘mountains are mountains, water is water’ likely comes to mind.

I have been thinking about the mountains and waters of Japan and Switzerland, and while different they are at the same time connect.

The late Grand Master Hōunsai once told me during my training: ‘No matter which ocean you live at, the water is the same.’ I was deeply moved by those words, and I intend to keep them close to my heart as I continue to strive for excellence.

I would be delighted if, on this occasion, you could all experience the refreshing sensation of the mountains and water, as well as the refreshing sensation within our own hearts.
